Hundreds of thousands of students
The Case
The Red Cross is market leader in the area of First Aid courses and accreditation. Hundreds of thousands of people have been trained and accredited by the The Red Cross, a major factor in allowing them to carry out their work. We supplied a development team to The Red Cross and built a system to implement the operating processes related to the planning of training courses, teachers and participants as well as course definitions, reports and the public webshop.
Dedicated development team
Smartshore Ability provided a dedicated development team which developed the system in cooperation with The Red Cross. The team worked using the Scrum method, supplemented by various quality
assurances in the areas of automatic tests, code quality and security.
Two teams were used: one for the automation of the operating processes and one for the creation of the
commercial webshops.
Result
Migration
Smartshore Ability also carried out the migration from the old system to the new system. National training history, certificates and participant data were migrated and transformed to fit the new data model. In
addition, the application was incorporated into a new infrastructure.
Infrastructure, hosting and devops
Smartshore Ability also provides hosting of the application and the webshop. It is essential that the systems are available at all times and are able to accommodate peak loads. For this reason, a solution
was chosen with Docker and Kubernetes, high-availability databases and proactive performance monitoring. The whole solution was then connected to a CI/CD pipeline allowing modifications to be made to the application in a safe way, without downtime.
